Three generals are arrested in Venezuela accused of plotting a coup
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has announced the arrest of three air force generals accused of plotting a coup.
It is claimed they were in league with opposition politicians against the background of the country’s continuing civil unrest.
Weeks of violence during anti-government protests have left 36 people dead.
Hardline protesters are demanding the resignation of Maduro while he accuses them of seeking a coup like the one that briefly toppled his predecessor Hugo Chavez 12 years ago.
